- Need help with cowboy costume for my dog?
I have a male Boxer, about 65-75 pounds, and I want to make a cowboy costume for him. Now,wait,I'm now one of those people who stuff their dogs into ridiculous elaborate costumes the dogs obviously hate,I actually want to do it because we are going to a different state for a week to be with friends on halloween, and if I don't dress my dog up to go trick-or-treating,my mom will make me leave my dog here alone, which he hates.well actually not alone,my dads brother lives here too,but in a different house a little way away, and my dog won't go down there when we are gone,he just lies around and pines. so anyway back to the costume.I don't want anything huge and elaborate, but neither do I want it to just be a halloween pattered leash. I'm probably going to dress him as a cowboy, with a cowboy hat and a red bandanna around his neck.I don't want anything that restricts his movement at ALL,he is good around other people and dogs, but if he feels trapped he will panic.I was also thinking of making a leash and collar out of rope,so it looks like a lasso(don't worry,it won't be a slip-knot)MAYBE a belt with fake guns and a miniature lasso on it,but I don't know about that.anyway, does this sound like a good idea?does anyone have any other ideas for the cowboy costume?does any part of this sound unsafe for my dog?any other suggestions welcome!!! and no i don't want him to be a boxer because that is just so obvious.when i got him as a puppy everyone was trying to get me to name him tyson and other famous boxer names, and i didn't becuase that is so common.so i named him solomon(Solly for short, ryms with lolly) and for your information my dog actually likes being dressed up and the attention it brings him.I'd never do anything to hurt or scare my beautiful dog.some people are just so mean! if you don't have anything nice to say, please don't answer this question! thanks to all the people who were nice.thanks idog.
A Find an old cowboy shirt, the kind with the fringe and the pearl buttons, and cut it out into a racing dog blanket pattern, then drape it over his back, You can secure it around the neck and waist with a simple tie. See the pictures below for the sort of fit I am talking about--it leaves his chest open to the air. You'll probably have a harder time getting him to accept the HAT than anything else.

- Cowboy costume for a Dog - Help!?
I'm bringing a shelter dog to a fundraising event and there will be a costume contest. His name is Pacer and he is a shepherd mix. I have a cowboy hat and a bandana, but I'm not sure what else to do! I was thinking of "boots" or a "gun holster" but I wasn't too sure of HOW to do that. Any suggestions or advice would be amazing! http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=2345138512780&set=a.2242932357690.134557.1379520027&type=1&theater There is a picture of him on the above link.
